Over 100 Official Nigerians in Botswana Languish in Police Detention for no Cause

13:13 Aug 10 2013 botswana

Description
About a year ago many Nigerians were deported and some given Prohibited Immigrants (P.I) without due process and the Report reaching my desk indicates that, not fewer than one hundred and forty (140) official Resident Nigerians were being detained in various police detention in Mogoditshane and Gaborone environs of Botswana with just no cause but, because they were Nigerians.

It was also realized that, any Nigerian(s) trying to check on any of them shall also be detained until further notice. The Nigerian High Commission also swift into action this morning to find out what was happening were also denied access to these Nigerian detainees. We therefore wish to intimate all Botswana Nigerian residents to be calm and remain in their prospective houses until this issue is sorted out.

Alas, we hope the Nigerian government will act fast in protecting these innocent Nigerian residents in Botswana before it's too late.
